Poetry of Rudi Holzapfel 1960-2006
Looking back at a string of books, broadsheets and pamphlets – many of them the frailest, fleetest, most idiosyncratic sort – I realise today what an exotic plant I must appear to some. Sheer creative enthusiasm has led me astray literally dozens of times, and I must admit I have gone with it gladly aware, perhaps, that it is much of inspiration as one like myself deserves.
Inspiration is the crown to which all talent aspires, but when one is unsure as I am, what my real talent is and where my real talent lies, enthusiasm is, as we say in Ireland, "your only man."
